Contractor's License
All construction fashioned on property that is not yours or under your direct family's ownership, must be done by a licensed contractor. To check to see if the contractor you want to hire is licensed with Garden City, please call the Neighborhood and Development Services Department at 620-276-1170. If you are a contractor and want to get licensed with Garden City, please come visit the Neighborhood and Development Services Department at 301 N 8th Street, to fill out an application.

- Trade Card: $20 (Required for electrical, plumbing, mechanical, masters, journeyman and helpers
Arborist License
If you need to have a tree on your property removed or trimmed above 8', and do not want to do it yourself, as a homeowner, you will need a licensed Arborist with The City of Garden City. To check to see if the Arborist you want to hire is licensed with Garden City, please call 620-276-1170. If you are interested in becoming a licensed arborist with the City, please visit the Neighborhood and Development Services Department at 301 N 8th Street to fill out an application.
Itinerant Merchant License
If you are an itinerant merchant (also known as a transient vendor), you are required to obtain an Itinerant Merchant License from the City Clerk in order to lawfully operate your business. View the city's code defining an Itinerant Merchant License to verify if you and your business fall under this requirement. An Itinerant Merchant License can be obtained at the City Clerk's office located on the top floor of the City Administrative Center at 301 North 8th Street.
- Non Local Itinerant Merchant:$900/month or $300/day
- Mobile Food Vendor:$600/annual, $200/month or $50/day
- Local Itinerant Merchant: $300/annual, $100/month or $25/day
Liquor License
Are you wanting to sell liquor at your place of business, you will need to obtain a liquor license from the City Clerk's Office located at 301 N 8th Street. If you have any questions please contact the City Clerk at 620-276-1161. Liquor licenses are good for 2 years from the date of application.
Cereal Malt Beverage License
If you are a looking to sell cereal malt beverages, you will need to obtain a cereal malt beverage license from the City Clerk's Office located at 301 N 8th Street. If you have any questions please contact the City Clerk at 620-276-1161.

Other Licenses
All of the licenses listed in the following can be obtained from the City Clerk located at the City Administration Building at 301 N 8th Street, second floor. For any questions please call 620-276-1161.
- Circuses and Carnivals: $300/day (with a $2,500 deposit)
- Precious Metal, Pawnbroker and Scrap Dealer: $25
- Haunted House, Halloween House or Mystery Mansion: No fee
- Taxicab Stations/Vehicles and Drivers: $15 (plus $15/vehicle used as a taxicab)
